Goldsmith Williams Solicitors was founded in July 1984 by Edward Goldsmith and Christopher Williams - we wonder how they came up with the name?!

The firm initially started out with two offices; Eddie opening an office in Allerton Road, Liverpool and Chris opening an office in Prenton, Wirral with the main business focus on domestic conveyancing.

In September 1986 senior partner Simon Cottrell joined the firm allowing it to branch out into personal injury litigation with a dedicated department created in 1990.

Three years later the firm closed the Allerton Road branch and moved to a new, larger city centre location where it rapidly expanded staff numbers and increased its case load due to the high demand for the firm’s expertise.

In 1996, the firm closed the Wirral office and amalgamated the two teams. However it wasn’t long before the city centre office became too small for this increasingly successful practice and in 2002 the firm acquired Mersey Chambers, the former prestigious headquarters of Harrison Line Shipping Group.

After a 16 month-renovation project, this Grade II listed building was ready and the Goldsmith WIlliams family moved in.

A decade on the firm has continued to go from strength to strength. The firm employs over 250 staff and offers expert legal advice in conveyancing, remortgaging, personal injury, wills and estate planning, equity release, financial claims and care home fees.
