Enfranchisement and Lease Extension
If you own a leasehold property, there may be a time when you need to extend the lease or even buy the freehold. This is known as enfranchisement and requires the help of a specialist legal team, like GW LET.
In need of enfranchisement or leasehold advice? GW LET is here to help
When it comes to leasehold property, it is preferable that there is at least 80 years left on the lease. Anything below this can lead to problems in remortgaging and/or the sale of the property. The leaseholder would then need to decide whether they would like to extend the lease or buy the freehold.
