As one of the UK’s leading national law firms, Goldsmith Williams has over 25 years experience in legal services to draw upon in helping small and medium businesses (SMEs) mis sold interest rate swap arrangements.
Highly practised in dealing with lenders and securing financial redress through our work in the payment protection insurance mis selling scandal, in which we have already recovered in excess of £32 million in compensation, we are committed in helping SMEs left in dire straits as a result of inappropriately sold interest rate swap derivatives.
We understand the devastating effects interest rate swaps have had, and are still having, on many SMEs. That is why we will endeavour to get your fees frozen throughout the progression of your case. Contact us for more details.
Types of Interest Rate Swaps
We will be dealing with four types of products that have been sold to SMEs:
- SWAPS (a straightforward swap which enabled the SME to fix their interest rate)
- Caps (a type of swap which placed a limit on any interest rate rises)
- Collars (a type of swap which enables the customer to limit interest rate fluctuations to within a simple range)
- Structured collars (a product which enables the SME to limit interest rates fluctuations to within a specified range but involves arrangement where, if the reference interest rate falls below the bottom of the range, the interest rate payable by the SME may increase above the bottom of the range).
Our service
Every case is different and we will thoroughly examine each complaint on an individual basis and advise you on the strength of your case, the likely outcome and the money you may recover. Contact us to discuss your situation in more details with one of our qualified solicitors.
If you wish to progress with your complaint, we would like, wherever possible, to meet in person to discuss and further understand the details of your case. Our Legal Plus team covers the whole of the UK and we are generally able to schedule an appointment within a few days.
We will then pull together the framework of your case before presenting it to the lender involved and, if necessary, to the Financial Ombudsman Services (FOS). If a satisfactory conclusion cannot be reached, we will advise you on your available options, including litigation.

Client Feedback
The service provided was exemplary, I would particularly like to mention Fiona Telford, who handled the matter for us. The speed and efficiency with which she handled the matter was excellent.
